Summary
Home to Thailand´s highest mountain of 2,530 m, Doi Inthanon National Park is an internationally recognised birdwatching location. With some 340 species of birds, the park consists of a range of habitat types from dry diperocarp forests on lower slopes to hill evergreen and pine forests at higher altitudes.

On the lower slopes, birds to look out for include wintering species such as Grey Bushchats, Siberian Rubythroats, Buff-throated, Radde´s and Yellow-streaked warblers and a few Little and Chestnut Buntings. Buzzards and occasional Grey faced Buzzard may also be found. In the Hill evergreen forest above 1,500 m and montane-type forest around the summit species include Red-flanked Bluetails, White-tailed and Ashy-throated leaf-wablers, together with wintering Orange-barred leaf-warblers.

Flocks of Scarlet Rosefinches are often present and frequently contain occasional surprise visitors, such as the Dark-breasted Rosefinch. Located close to Chiang Mai town, Doi Suthep National Park boasts over 360 species of birds including rarities such as Hume’s pheasants and Green Cochoas.

Day 1: Doi Inthanon NP. Pick up from your Chiang Mai hotel at 0600 and transfer by private vehicle on the 1-hour drive to Doi Inthanon National Park. Breakfast and coffee at Mr. Dang’s Café, before a full day of birdwatching with your expert guide. Start birdwatching from the first checkpoint gate before heading up to the second checkpoint where typical species include Pigeon, Black-headed Sebia, Fulietta, Minivet, and Nuthatch.

Next to the summit of Doi Inthanon where exciting species such as the Pygmy Wren Babbler can be found. Late afternoon birdwatching at Ban Phar Mork waterfall before leaving the park to check in at your resort.

Day 2: Doi Inthanon NP. A second full day of birdwatching in Doi Inthanon National Park. At the end of the day, trasnfer to Chiang Mai town. Free evening to explore the markets and cultural delights of this amazing town.

Day 3: Depart your Chiang Mai hotel at 0600 for the short drive to th nearby Doi Suthep National Park. Start birding in the foothills before moving to Rue Sri cave or a short trek on a nature trail. In this area, species include Black-throated Sunbirds, more than 8 species of Bulbul, White-eyes, Minivets, Babblers and Flycatchers.

After lunch head higher to trek around the summit of Doi Pui before returnig you to your Chiang Mai at 1800. Reach your hotel or airport. End of our services.
