Summary
Korat may be the least visited by tourists and yet may be the most culturally rewarding area to tour. The regions history is heavily flavored by the Lao and Khmer cultures. The villages where locals produce silks are the highlights here. Khmer style ruins near Buriram and Pimai (north of Korat) are not as spectacular as Siam Reap, but can provide relaxing few days trip without incurring the expense and time of a trip to Cambodia.


Day 1: Depart Bangkok sharp at 0800 am for drive via Buriram to visit Prasat Phnom Rung, the most important Khmer temple complex in Thailand, situated on a small hill. The monumental staircase is stunning and the sanctuary is one of the best examples of Khmer architecture. Then continue to Muang Tham Khmer Temple Complex & Reservoir, a brick structure with 5 pagodas surrounded by literate ponds. After lunch, visit the Pak Tongchai Silk Centre to Observe the process of silk production. Evening drive to the Thai style fruit and vegetable market, see the villagers shopping and selling different items. Reach your resort around 1800pm. Free to have dinner on your own.

Day 2: After breakfast, visit to Dan Kwian Village, a village famous for its pottery. See pottery manufactured in traditional and modern forms. After that continue to Phi Mai Khmer Temple Complex, built in the classis “5-Mountain” configuration, this temple was the terminus / destination of the Royal of the Royal Road, It was built at the apex of the expire (around 1100 AD) and took several hundred years to construct. In the afternoon, after lunch, visit the Phi Mai museum which is the best of its type in Thailand. The Fine Arts Department has collected artefacts and made displays which greatly heighten a visitors understanding of the mighty Khmer empire, also visit Sai Ngam Banyan Grove, with Thailand’s largest banyan tree. Have dinner and drive back to your hotel.

Day 3: Visit Ban Prasart where human skeletons, ancient weapons, ornaments and other artefacts have been found in pits dating back to prehistoric times. Then continue to Prasat Phnom Wan, it is Believed that this temple was built in the 15th Buddhist century (10-11th Century current calendar). According to the inscriptions founded at the site the sanctuary was used in the Hindu religion and later became a Buddhist site. Visit local villages to study their lifestyle and what they do for their livings. Start Driving back to Bangkok. Reach Bangkok around 1800.End of our services.
