"Thanks for the wonderful tour of Khao Yai National Park. It has been in my memory since I returned to the UK. It was the first time I had ever been walking in a natural, unprotected environment such as this and I felt quite exposed to the wildlife that lived there. I was slightly nervous as I didn't particularly want to come face to face with a tiger, at least not on my first trip. It didn't take long to relax, thanks to my total faith in the excellent guide, Jip, who seemed to know about everything we encountered from tiny fungi to an elephant. As long as he wasn't nervous I knew that I was in safe hands.
We never saw a tiger, nor a bear (although we saw the horrific claw marks on some trees), but there were so many gibbons, monkeys, birds, insects and some very curious trees that were very animal-like in shape and texture. I saw huge trees that had enveloped and consumed smaller trees - and the bones of deer that apparently belonged to a jackel which was straight out of a horror film scene. Eating a hot lunch under a quickly erected tent and listening to the jungle sounds was an incredible experience, as was the entire tour. Our guide was excellent and supremely knowledgable about the jungle. Next time I shall book a longer tour and perhaps see the tiger that I do (and do not) want to meet. Thanks again."
